Couture Plastique

Created in 2006.

The dress is made from a fabric called Eco-spun which is woven from melted plastic bottles. It is covered with plastic packaging film and accented by little circles cut from plastic detergent bottles. The stole is knit from clear plastic bags that are pulled through to create a soft luxurious faux fur and is lined with a white satin prom dress from a thrift store.  This ensemble took 225 hours to create.

Reduce your Use!

Packaging constitutes as much as 30% of our trash. Be an eco-leader and reduce your carbon foot-print!
· With a small purchase, decline the offered bag.
· Bring your own bags to the store for larger shopping trips.
· Buy locally grown and produced foods, which typically have less packaging than food that is shipped across the country. The average meal in the United States travels 1,200 miles from the farm to your plate. Buying local also saves fuel and keeps money in your community.
