Pop Can Couture

Commissioned by the Coca-Cola Company in 2006.
The dress and purse are made of canvas scraps sewn into a 1950s style
cocktail dress. Post-consumer Coke cans were cut into the shapes of
leaves, petals and vines, and hand sewn to the dress, purse and a
vintage pair of shoes. The earrings and a necklace are also made from
Coke cans. This ensemble took 135 hours to create.
Recycling aluminum saves 95%
of the energy needed to produce aluminum from bauxite ore.
Saving energy is a powerful way to slow climate change. Here are some easy, energy-saving steps for
your office and home:
· Use energy efficient appliances and compact fluorescent
light bulbs.
· Move your thermostat down 2° in winter and up 2° in summer-
you will keep from producing 2,000 pounds of carbon dioxide (a green
house gas) a year.
· Use water efficiently - municipal water systems require a
lot of energy to purify and distribute water-- saving water,
especially hot water, can lower greenhouse gas emissions.
· Seal and insulate your home or office- Sealing air leaks
and adding more insulation is easy to do. It may also be tax deductible.
